Today, Local 822-Patterson, NJ, President Geraldo “Jerry” Arroyo gave a powerful testimony in front of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus during a roundtable at the United States Capitol.
“I want to share what my members go through on the job every day, as they are just trying to earn a living,” said Arroyo. “Public transit is a lifeline in the Latino community, where many people don’t have a car and rely on the bus to get to the grocery store, the doctor, and everywhere else. There is no shortage of stories I could share with you where our members face abuse, violence, and harassment on NJ Transit- sometimes so severely that they stop coming into work- all while just trying to keep our system moving."

Arroyo was joined by esteemed Congress members, including Rob Menendez (NJ), Rick Larson (WA), Nellie Pou (NJ), Chuy Garcia (IL), Ted Lieu (CA), Luz Rivas (CA), Darren Soto (FL), and Salud Carbajal (CA). Thank you, Brother Arroyo, for speaking truth to power and educating our elected officials on the real lives of transit workers.
