Today, ATU International President John Costa convened meetings of the ATU Multi-Employer Joint Industry Council (JIC) and the Transdev Joint Industry Council (JIC). Joined by IEVP Yvette Trujillo and IST Ken Kirk, Costa commended the Locals for their leadership and talked about the importance and power of the JICs.
“Thank you for representing our members. The work of our JICs is instrumental in advancing the rights and welfare of our members at these private transit companies through the power of collective bargaining,” Costa told the attendees. “We are working to better coordinate our bargaining with our JICs to put pressure on these private companies who continue to treat our members with disrespect. Our continued work together through the JIC’s is critical in fighting for the rights and strong contracts for our members.”
During the meeting Costa and ATU staff provided corporate updates on each private company, legislative developments, and other issues impacting our members. The Local leaders also discussed the status of their contracts with the private employers. Under Costa’s leadership our JIC’s have played a critical role in securing better contracts with our private employers.
