This weekend, ATU Locals across Tennessee, North Carolina, Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, and Alabama gathered in the heart of Nashville for an intensive ATU International Stewards Training, bringing together the power of solidarity and knowledge to strengthen our Union!
International President John Costa opened the training, firing up the Stewards. "You are the heart and soul of our movement,” Costa told the energized group. “The strength of our Union lies in your hands. Every day, you fight for justice, and your commitment ensures that our members’ voices are heard. Real leadership is about standing with workers and never backing down. When we stand together, we’re unstoppable. Your leadership isn’t just important, it makes a difference in people’s lives. Thank you for everything you do. Stay strong and stay united.”

Costa was also joined at the training by International Executive Vice President Yvette Trujillo, Secretary Treasurer Ken Kirk, and International Vice Presidents Gary Johnson, Natalie Cruz, Anthony Garland, and Amanda Sawyer-Turner, who represent Locals across each state.
Whether guiding employees through grievance procedures or advocating for fairness, Union Stewards are dedicated to ensuring the workplace remains equitable. With hands-on learning, leadership development, and strategic discussions, the ATU is equipping our stewards to better serve their coworkers. Together, we will keep fighting for fair wages, safer working conditions, and the dignity all workers deserve. Day two starts tomorrow.
