Transit Action Events happening across North America
Bridgeport, CT- Governor Dan Malloy joined transit workers, riders and advocates for a rally, Thursday, August 14 at 10:45 a.m. at ATU Local 1336 in Bridgeport, CT to show support for more, better and safer public transit. Transit workers from New Haven, Hartford and New London attended the rally.
The rally is part of an unprecedented effort of tens of thousands of transit workers and advocates mobilizing across North America to engage millions of riders to join in support of more, better, and safer public transit. Riders are encouraged to contact elected officials and demand increased funding for public transit.
Throughout the year similar Transit Action rallies, ride-a-longs with elected officials, and leafleting will be held at bus stops, train stations and other community venues to educate riders and build support for more public transit funding.
“We need more elected officials like Governor Malloy who not only stands with us in supporting increased funding for public transit, but puts his money where his mouth is,” says ATU International Vice President Richard Murphy. “Here in Connecticut and in cities and towns across the nation, riders are standing with us in support of increased investment in public transportation. The people of Connecticut know that we get them to their jobs by doing our job.”
