Welcome to Washington, DC! Our Union’s newest Local officers are attending the ATU’s innovative New Officers’ Training this week to learn critical skills to best serve their members and Locals. Under International President John Costa’s leadership, these new officers are gaining the knowledge and tools they need to stand up for transit workers everywhere.
At an opening reception, Costa welcomed attendees speaking about the importance of their roles and the challenges they face. “This is a great training. It’s a jam-packed week to prepare you for the challenges you will face as leaders at your Local. It’s also an opportunity to network with your fellow Local officers who are dealing with the same issues,” Costa told the attendees. “You are taking your positions during very trying times for our countries. We can’t do your jobs for you, but we will give you knowledge that you can take back to represent and fight for your members.”
This training is about preparing our future leaders to learn, grow, and build a stronger, more unified union. We look forward to a busy and productive week in Washington, DC!
