Transit workers showed up this election. Today, International President John Costa brought that work to Washington, DC.

Costa joined national labor leaders at the AFL-CIO Executive Council's post-election meeting to look at what races we won, what comes next, and how we hold the people we elected to their promises. For the ATU, that means fighting for a robust Surface Transportation bill with transit funding, requiring safety assurance operators on autonomous buses, investment in transit workforce training, and other issues. This starts with the lame duck session and carries into the new Congress.

Costa also met with Politico’s transportation reporter to discuss the election results, the Surface Transportation bill, our Union’s legislative priorities for our members, our Union, and industry with the new leadership in Congress.
“On Tuesday, we made history,” said Costa. “The labor movement did that. 60 million early votes. $11.5 billion spent. Working people carried us. We are going to hold this Congress accountable for safety for our members, funding for our transit agencies, and affordability for Americans.”

For the ATU, the next step is to make sure the candidates we helped elect deliver for the people who keep our country moving.
The election is over. The work isn't.
