History was made today in Toledo, OH. The ATU International Pride Caucus held its 2nd-ever conference, bringing together LGBTQIA+ transit workers and allies from across North America.
ATU International President John Costa said it best: "When we held our first-ever Pride Caucus meeting in New Orleans, it was historic. Now we're at meeting number two. That's not a small thing. That's a movement taking root. I’m proud to stand with this caucus. I’m proud to be your International President. As long as I’m here, the ATU won’t flinch. We will never leave our siblings to fight alone. That’s my commitment to you, now and always."
From Las Vegas, where the first meeting about forming the Caucus took place, to New Orleans, and now to Toledo, this caucus is growing, and it’s here to stay.
Congratulations to Caucus President Michael Mackay and the entire officer team for making it happen. And thank you to every member who showed up today. In a moment when our community is under attack, being visible and building together matters more than ever.
The ATU sees you. The ATU is with you. Solidarity Forever.
Joining Costa at the conference were International Executive Vice President Yvette Trujillo and Vice Presidents Gary Johnson, Michael Cornelius, and Carly Allen.
