International President John Costa is at the Democratic National Committee Spring Meeting doing what he does best: showing up, building power, and making sure the ATU and working people are part of every conversation that matters. Costa, a Super Delegate from his home state of New Jersey, joined DNC Chair Ken Martin, New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno, the first Latina and second woman to ever lead this city, and many other leaders from across our nation.
Costa also joined the Labor Caucus and key meetings across the conference to make clear that a Democratic Party worth fighting for must put workers first.
"Transit workers don't get the luxury of sitting on the sidelines," said Costa. "That's why I'm here, speaking with Chair Martin, joining the Labor Caucus, and building relationships with leaders who understand that a strong Democratic Party has to be a party that stands with workers. Working people are not a constituency group at election time. We’re the backbone of America."
More than 200,000 transit workers are counting on us to be in the room. We are, and we always will be.
