International President John Costa Addresses Members at Joint NY/NJ Legislative Conference Board Meeting

International President John Costa was in his home state today, addressing members in Atlantic City, New Jersey, at the joint New York/New Jersey Legislative Conference Board meeting.

"New York and New Jersey don't always agree on pizza, but they agree that transit workers deserve better. Whether it's the mechanic apprenticeship programs breaking new ground in Buffalo and Rochester, or the fight against AVs and microtransit trying to push our members aside, New York and New Jersey are showing what it means to stand together. Our Locals aren't waiting for the future to happen to them. They're building it," said Costa.
Attendees also received a comprehensive rundown of legislative issues from ATU staff, with fights over microtransit, autonomous vehicles, and worker misclassification heating up in both states. Two states, one union, one fight.

Also, a special shout-out to International Vice President Ray Greaves and Local 819 President/Business Agent Veronica Cobb, both from Costa's New Jersey Local, on their birthday!
