Day Three of New Officers training in Washington, DC

Today, we continued investing in the next generation of ATU leadership! International President John Costa joined our new Local Presidents and Financial Secretaries as they dug deeper into the tools and knowledge they need to lead with strength, transparency, and unity.

“It’s inspiring to see committed leaders like you step up, ask tough questions, and support each other as you fight for the rights of our members,” said Costa. “Strong Locals equal a strong Union! From understanding the financial responsibilities of your roles to building power at the bargaining table and in the community, this week is about laying a solid foundation for our Locals.”
While in D.C., President Costa, along with International Executive Vice President Yvette Trujillo and International Secretary Treasurer Ken Kirk, also met with the AFL-CIO’s Transportation Trades Department (TTD) President Greg Regan and Secretary-Treasurer Shari Semelsberger. As the nation’s largest transportation labor federation, the TTD and ATU leadership discussed priorities for our members, including transit funding and safety.

It's been a productive week in the nation’s capital so far! Stay tuned as we continue to lift up and empower transit workers across North America!
