ATU thanks workers who safely transport people on Thanksgiving and every day

ATU International President Larry Hanley issued the following statement in observance of Thanksgiving Day in the United States.

“More than 54 million people will travel this Thanksgiving, one of the busiest travel times of the year. Many will take the bus, train, plane or other modes of transportation to celebrate the holiday with family and friends.

“With so many people traveling, we often forget the countless transportation workers – bus operators, train operators, mechanics, cleaners, airport workers, pilots, station agents and other workers – who forgo spending the holiday with their families and friends to ensure travelers get to their destination safely and on time.

“The Amalgamated Transit Union gives thanks to these hard working people, many of who are our members, who do this important work not only during Thanksgiving, but every day, with the utmost professionalism. So as you travel this holiday, remember to thank these frontline transportation workers for helping to get you safely and securely to your destination.”
