Take Action

Transit workers across the United States and Canada are currently at the frontlines of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, risking the health and safety of themselves and their families to ensure other essential workers and our communities can get where they need to go. Please help them get the protection and justice they need by taking action. Together we fight, and together we can win safe service now!

Take Action

During the next few weeks, the U.S. Congress is likely to pass another Coronavirus bill. ATU’s priority in this next bill is the inclusion of at least $32 billion in emergency operating aid for public transportation, school bus and over the road systems. These funds would be used to maintain essential service, avoid layoffs, and to purchase personal protective equipment to keep our members safe. To send a letter to your Members of Congress to demand funding for these various modes of transportation be included in the next Coronvirus bill, please click on the links below:

Share Kit

The ATU has developed the following social media memes/images and leaflets to spread the word on social media to our members, employers, riders, elected officials about our fight for the rights and protections of our members and all transit workers during this global pandemic.

Safe Service Petition

ATU demands that our transit agencies and private contractors protect employees and their families during this COVID-19 crisis. Join in our demands and sign an online petition.

Motor Coach Industry Petition

ATU is pushing the U.S. Congress to provide the highest level possible of direct emergency funding to Greyhound and other intercity bus companies that have been devastated by COVID-19. More than a thousand ATU members have been laid off or furloughed with ridership drastically down on intercity buses. Unlike city transit agencies, the motor coach bus industry was not included in the U.S. CARES Act that provided $25 billion in emergency funding for transit systems.

Support Canadian Workers Petition

The ATU International and ATU Canada are asking for the Cabinet Committee on the federal response to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to stand with transit workers and provide the highest level possible of direct emergency funding to public transit agencies. This funding is essential to maintain strategic service levels that maximize social distancing and ensure transportation for essential workers, to purchase personal protective equipment for transit workers, and to protect their jobs and livelihoods throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
