ATU celebrates Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month: Albert Chapa, first President of the ATU Latino Caucus

Albert Chapa was the first President of the ATU Latino Caucus, which held its charter meeting in January 1990 in Austin, TX. Chapa served as Financial Secretary of Local 1091-Austin, TX.  In remarks to this opening meeting, then International President La Sala voiced support for the new caucus. Chapa applauded the International’s support saying, "It is a tribute to the foresight of our International leadership and a product of the democratic nature of the ATU that the input of groups such as ours is not only welcomed but encouraged."
