Washington - Larry Hanley, international president of the Amalgamated Transit Union, issued the following statement today to praise President Obama for his appointments of three individuals to fill vacant seats on the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
“The president’s actions are a strong step toward restoring the balance needed to ensure fairness in labor-management relations in our nation. We applaud the president for standing up to the Congressional Republicans who have threatened to circumvent the labor laws of our country, which have been the foundation of our middle class since 1933.
“We look forward to working with the administration and the NLRB to reverse the ‘race to the bottom’ that has become the dominant philosophy in labor relations in recent years. It’s time to rebuild the middle class which has always been the bedrock of a successful American economy.”
