The members of the Amalgamated Transit Union have continued to show
their support for the Employee Free Choice Act by contributing an
additional $40,955 to the Media Fund for that legislation. To date,
over $287,000 has been raised. The amount is the equivalent to the contributions of over 98,000 members at the recommended donation of $2.50 per member.
The ATU International will continue to accept contributions through the end of May, and will match that total with its own contribution, bringing ATU’s support for the Media Fund close to a half million dollars – well over $2.50 for every ATU member in the United States and Canada.

Dear Secretary-Treasurer Trumka:
The Amalgamated Transit Union is pleased to present a final check in the amount of $40,955.00 to support the “Turn Around America Media Fund.” This amount represents contributions by ATU local unions across the United States, most often sending the International office two dollars per member to support the Employee Free Choice Act. By action of the ATU General Executive Board, the International is matching our local union funds dollar for dollar through the end of May, 2009.The response from our locals has been amazing. The ATU, along with its local unions, raised a total of $287,251.16 to support the efforts to get the Employee Free Choice Act enacted. Locals from every region of the country, large and small have given what they can afford. The ATU is proud to do its part.
In solidarity,

Warren S. George, International President
