Ronald J. Heintzman — International Executive Vice President
Ron Heintzman was appointed by International President Warren S. George to serve as international executive vice president effective August 1, 2009, following seven years of service as an international vice president. During his tenure as an IVP, he assisted locals and helped negotiate collective bargaining agreements in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Nevada and Texas.
Prior to service with the International, Heintzman served as the president of Local 757 in Portland, OR. First elected local president in 1988, he was elected to five consecutive terms until his IVP appointment in 2002. Under his direction the local union membership grew to over 5,000 active members with 23 collective bargaining agreements in Oregon and southwest Washington.
After high school, Heintzman attended Washington State University (WSU) and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Police Science and Administration in 1975. He became a member of the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at WSU and was commissioned a second lieutenant upon graduation. He entered active duty and served two years with the 545th Military Police Company, First Calvary Division, Fort Hood, TX.
After his initial active duty military service in 1977, Heintzman went to work for the Oregon Liquor Control Commission as an enforcement officer and during that time attended night school at the University of Portland where he earned a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1982. That was also the same year he was hired as a transit police officer for the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) and became a member of ATU Local 757.
Heintzman currently resides in Maryland with his wife and two daughers.
