Canadian Council COPE

Unlike the ATU-COPE program in the U.S., which must be funded solely through voluntary contributions from individual ATU members residing in the U.S., and which is closely regulated and monitored by federal, state and local governments in the U.S., the ATU Canadian Council's COPE program is funded primarily by contributions from ATU Locals in Canada.

The Canadian Council COPE funds are used to advance the interests of ATU members in the halls of government, including fighting legislative issues that may be detrimental to our members and their families. Contributions are sometimes made to special campaigns to fight public-private partnerships and other privatization efforts. Canadian Council COPE funds are not used to support any political candidate who is seeking elective office.
