Victor Torres

"I have always been involved in political activism," says Victor Torres, a bus operator for LYNX in Central Florida. "As a transit worker, it is imperative to keep up with what is currently happening in politics. It impacts our jobs."
In his role as political coordinator for his local, Torres writes articles for his local's newsletter, assists in local union mailings, participates in Labor walks and phone banks, and attends community meetings and fundraisers for union-endorsed candidates. One of his favorite activities was registering voters at the drivers' lounge at the downtown LYNX terminal in Orlando.
Worthwhile, Fulfilling
"Volunteering can become time consuming," said Torres, "but it's worthwhile. Informing people and getting people out to vote is very fulfilling for me."
