As an Alderman for the City of Northwood, MO, for the past 12 years, David Tolliver, an operator for Metro in St. Louis, knows the importance of political activism.  That is why his local president assigned him the task of coordinating his local's participation in the Labor 2006 program.

More People Volunteering

In addition to recruiting volunteers from his own local and assisting with local mailings, Tolliver volunteered for numerous Labor 2006 walk and phone banks in the two months leading up to election day and worked full time with Labor 2006 over the last week.  "I think the program works," said Tolliver.  "More and more people are volunteering and the people we talk to are very appreciating of the information we give them."

"I really enjoy volunteering," he said.  "You get to talk to people of all ages, races, and backgrounds.  I'm a people person, so its great."
