The nation’s unemployment rate hit a 26-year high in June, rising to 9.5 percent. For the 18th month in a row, jobs disappeared—467,000 this time. The number of long-term unemployed rose by 433,000, to 4.4 million people who've been out of work for 27 weeks or more.
