Good Jobs First is a national policy resource center for grassroots groups and public officials, promoting corporate and government accountability in economic development and smart growth for working families. We provide timely, accurate information on best practices in state and local job subsidies, and on the many ties between smart growth and good jobs. Good Jobs First works with a very broad spectrum of organizations, providing research, training, communications and consulting assistance. Website
Transportation Equity Network
The Transportation Equity Network (TEN) is a grassroots network of more than 350 community organizations in 41 states working to create an equity-based national transportation system.
TEN seeks to meet the challenges of current crises in the economy, energy security, and climate change by building healthy, equitable communities and providing equal public transportation access to all. Website
Transportation 4 America
Transportation for America has formed a broad coalition of housing, business, environmental, public health, transportation, equitable development, and other organizations. We’re all seeking to align our national, state, and local transportation policies with an array of issues like economic opportunity, climate change, energy security, health, housing and community development. Transit Riders for Public Transit
Transit Riders for Public Transportation is a new national campaign initiated by the Labor/ Community Strategy Center
and Bus Riders Union to bring environmental justice and civil rights priorities to the upcoming federal surface
transportation act—whose budget is estimated to be at least $500 billion. This is an important opportunity for groups
organizing in low-income, working class communities of color with an environmental justice perspective to shape
national and local policy. Website
Blue Green Alliance
The BlueGreen Alliance is a national, strategic partnership between labor unions and environmental organizations dedicated to expanding the number and quality of jobs in the green economy.
Launched in 2006 by the United Steelworkers and the Sierra Club, this unique labor-environmental collaboration has grown to include the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), National Wildlife Federation (NWF), Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA), Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Sheet Metal Workers' International Association, United Auto Workers and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). The Blue Green Alliance unites more than 14 million members and supporters in pursuit of good jobs, a clean environment and a green economy.
The Blue Green Alliance works on issues ranging from energy and climate change to transportation to workers' rights and green chemistry. Website
The Labor Project for Working Families
The Labor Project for Working Families partners with unions to advocate for family friendly workplaces because no one should have to choose between work and family. Founded in 1992, the Labor Project is a national non-profit organization that educates and empowers unions to organize, bargain and advocate for family friendly workplaces. We build broad based coalitions that unite labor, community and advocacy groups to advance policies that put families first. Website
ATU Boot Camps and Participating Organizations
ATU sponsored two “Boot Camp Trainings” in partnership with Good Jobs First. The ATU Boot Camps were designed to kick start coalition - building across the country around the issue of public transportation. Boot Camps brought together diverse organizations: transit riders, equity advocates, civil rights groups, community organizers, environmentalists, policy analysts, researchers and media experts. Together with ATU local leaders, groups jump started new partnerships and deepened alliances to fight for better public transportation.
